Once upon a time in a small town called Dan's Grove, a friendship was formed. Though it was another game, another time, the characters went by the same names. Rosie was a small time skill house owner who had learned the graceful talent for "hosting" by working for one of the most successful skill houses in the small city. She struggled to make a name for herself alongside her loyal friends and her one and only caped crusaider. Across town, there was another girl who was setting the tongues to waging with her explosion onto the skill-house owner scene. Her name was Alyeska then. Who was she? No one knew. All anyone knew was that her "sim" was only weeks old and she had stepped in to run the most successful skill-house in the town with no history and no reputation. Rumors spread like wildfire. Many thought she was an alt of the former owner of the house, Missbehavin. Well, Rosie was always an observant type :P She watched this other house from her post greeting newcomers and regulars in her open-air Charisma house. You need charm, style, grace? Needed to make more money at pizza or painting? You went to Rosie's. Rosie zoomed out to world view several times per day, watching the visitor counts in her house compared to that of Alyeska's.
Before long, it became Alyeska's habit to close her own skill house around 10pm, which would immediately be followed by her showing up at Rosie's skill house. The house would get hushed at the arrival of the town's newest focus of interest. Alyeska was there. What could it mean? She was quiet, but friendly. She greeted Rosie and any of the roomies who were there. Meanwhile the roomies would be IMing Rosie to gasp with shock and wonder at the reason's for Alyeska's visit to the more modest, slower skill house.
After a time, Rosie, Aly (As she became to be known), Bruce Wayne (don't ask), Johnny, Mausi, Guen and several others became friends. Alyeska made it her habit to close her own house before returning to Rosie's charming little house time and time again :P Johnny was her original reason for the visits. He was a trusted roomie in the house and it turned out that Alyeska was, in fact, an alt... but not of Missbehavin... of a meek and sweet girl named Nelchina. Where Nelchina was sweet and unsuspecting, Alyeska was wild and zany. Well not really, but I like to get her riled up :P
From those days, a bond grew between Rosie and Alyeska. Though she'd tell you how shy and innocent she was, Aly was no such thing :P She brought out the wild side of Rosie... who has always been the model for polite, nice and demure.
Years later after failed marriages, shared stores, skill houses run together, and the inevitable move to SL, Rosie and Aly took the same last name. Sisters? Yes, in all the ways that count.
If you don't know Aly Shark, I suggest you get to know her. In both rl and sl she is a force to reckon with. She is a loyal and trusted friend who will support those she cares about until the end of time. She has been there for me at my best and at my worst. She's the adventurous, exploring yin to my barbie doll shopping and hair changing yang.
Through all the things we've been through, no matter how hard I pushed her away from me, no matter the distance that has been between us and at times been kept between us, no matter our differences or our arguments, she has been there to laugh with me (sometimes at me :P), listen to me, and offer her quiet, steady, unflagging support. I'm not sure I want to face any life, second or otherwise without ya, Alykins!

For the most part I agree with what Ms Rosie has shared in this blog entry. I'm sure they all wondered why in the world I would close down my own house to spend time visiting the competition. It did orginally start because someone I wanted to see hung out at Rosie's place. But it didn't take long for me to find that I had much better reasons to be there. Fun, laughter, and Friends...and I didn't have to do any of the work. I was a guest and didn't have to worry about a thing. These are the reason I closed up shop every night at 10pm. I looked forward to time with my new friends.
As my frienship with Rosie developed I began to feel guilty not sharing my true identity so I eventually did. I don't think she or anyone else believed me at first. In all reality though, no one knew much about my main "sim" Nelchina. She was quiet, shy, and reserved. (Like Aly Shark is today) Aly on the other hand was much more outspoken and opinionated. I don't even think Rosie had ever met the other me. Our friendship developed with me playing as my alt, Alyeska.
And yes, I dragged her here to SL, I decided to change my name to Aly and retire Nel, and Rosie and I shared last names which makes us sisters :P
MY Rosie has been in my life for going on 3 years now. Our friendship started online, and she is the only online person I have ever chosen to meet in RL. We have hung out on a couple of occasions and I can say that I wish she lived nearer so we could hang out more often than once a year. Our visits have been fun, and it's also kinda cool to be able to talk about TSO or SL and not have the person listening look at me as if I've done lost my mind and need to be locked up.
I know I drive her crazy sometimes, and we have had some horrible fights. I've even intentionally tried to create a distance between us, but when it comes right down to it... I can't imagine this friendship ever dying.
